Description

[OS] Ubuntu 11.04

[Application] Thunderbird 6.0

In the Thunderbird address book, my Google Contact groups are showing with a :1 appended to each name, but show normally in gMail contacts. For example, Family:1

If I try and rename the group to remove the :1 in Thunderbird, the name changes back.

Thunderbird does not allow to create the same mail lists even if they exist in different address books. To avoid the conflict, the extension adds prefix. Don't remove it.

I didn't see this problem before in earlier versions :( I also only have the one Google address book so there will never be conflicting names. Could the extension append :1 etc only if there are more than 1 account configured in the extension preferences?

If there is no conflict, your address book data may be broken. Uninstall the extension and remove the address book. And then re-install and try it again.

I see the :1 from time to time but it usually goes away after a reload or re-starting.

I did as you suggested but it didn't fix the problem. It doesn't really matter to me as it doesn't affect the operation of the extension. I'm happy to provide you more info if you want to follow it up further. Maybe it has something to do with my Android phone that I recently set up for Google contact syncing too. The phone and gmail display the names OK though so I just assumed it was a display bug. Thanks anyway, still love the extension!

Sorry for the late answer. I've not reproduce the issue yet.

Can you send me the following files?

  • XML file
    1. Open option dialog and enable "Dump raw XML sent from Google server" in Experimental tab
    2. Click Reload button
    3. Open option dialog and click Open button in Advanced tab
    4. Send me a folder in <your_address>/xml/groups

Is it solved? I've closed it. But if you are in trouble yet, please reopen this ticket and write details.
