Have used Gmail/Thunderbird sync in GC 0.7.12 for years to bring/sync new contacts from Gmail to T'bird without many problems
For the past month new contacts have been transferring from Gmail to T'bird in this fashion "joeblow"@gmail.com after clearly entering joeblow@gmail.com
Naturally when sending emails from Tbird mail will bounce back with the unrecognizable quotes in the addresses.
Quotes do not appear in the Gmail contact but transfer with quotes only surrounding the "name"
