Over a period of several weeks the addon generated over 10000 empty distribution lists in he thunderbird client (still going strong)
Not sure if this is the same problem as logged here.

I had the same issue. Took me several hours to delete all the duplicates from google contacts, unfortunately not until after they synced to my brand new Nexus 4. :-(

I had the same issue. Why is this not being addressed?
I set synchronization mode to "read only" to prevent this tool from creating contacts to make sure that the issue was generated from this add-on.
