The most recent (March 10) downloadable version of Google Contacts is apparently incompatible with Thunderbird trunk as of today, March 31. When you launch Thunderbird with the add-on installed, it doesn't sync with Google. It doesn't do anything, in fact. And at first glance I don't see any relevant errors in the error console.
