Just installed Thunderbird 17.0.6 update recently and was suddenly not able to send (The Send Button and Ctrl+enter shortcut did not do anything). I restarted with all add-ons disabled - it worked again. Restarted with them all on and tried disabling one by one and as soon as Check and Send was disabled my ability to send messages was working again.
